Being the backup girl for a Nostalgia Funny Car is what dragged me into the colourful world of dragracing back in 2011. It didn’t take really long before I realized I definitely wanted to race myself. In 2013 SuzyQ entered my life and has become a big part of it ever since.
Nowadays I drive and wrench, backing up cars has become something I occasionally do for fun. Having grease up my elbows and black fingernails has proven to be so much more satisfying to me than running around in short skirts and high heeled boots.
My love for Mopar and especially the E-body Barracuda (1970-1974) has always been guiding for my weapon of choice at the track. It’s absolutely true: Mopar or no car!

SUZYQ DRAGRACING
SUZYQ DRAGRACING
Drachten Airstrip, the oldest and basically only prepped dragstrip in the Netherlands is now permanently closed for drag racing. The Drachten council has decided to develop the airport and surrounding areas nearby further, without availability for drag race events 💔
It has always been a bit of a struggle to organize race events on an active airstrip (it had to be closed for our race weekends), but the great effort of many enthusiastic people made it possible. I feel very sorry for them, the Dutch drag race fans and obviously also the racers, including myself. I raced both my streetcar Barracuda as well as SuzyQ there.
Many sweet memories were made and at least we'll have those to cherish. But at the same time I can't help but feeling worried about the future of our beloved sport in this rapidly changing world.
What do you think? Will there still be a place for drag racing? Let's talk in the comments, I'm curious to your opinion ⬇️

It’s a sad day, we all know trying to establish a new strip is an almost impossible task these days so loosing places that had already been used really hurts
That’s sad news , we had a great time when we were there. It seems to be if it’s not kicking a bag of wind around in your shorts , and shouting at the people in different coloured shirts , nobody else is allowed to have any fun . So use the tracks that are left 🤪 Hope to see you at the pod at some point , we miss you all
Sure hope so. Drag racing seems to be one of the few sports that the majority enjoy and look forward to each and every season.
Makes me wonder if its an inconvenience to the airstrip or if its a green agenda against large engined petrol powered cars. Mmmm, burn those fossils!
Very sad news, I had a great time over there with the funny car in 2012. Friendly people and a great track. It will be greatly missed with many fond memories
Sorry to hear to that Kirsten,I’ve met you at Santa Pod Raceway in the U.K. That is our only drag strip now over here maybe you can come over again to Santa Pod sometime in the future 😀
Such a shame, had the same in the UK with shakey, sad! 🥲
No good news 😭
Kunnen we de straat voor Sixpack niet gaan gebruiken 😋
Sick 🤢 and sad!
Sad news ......ecologic problem ?
That sucks to hear. Dragstrips closing is not a good thing
Lame
das balen ..... kan me niet voorstellen dat er überhaupt een andere lokatie is in NL

After getting involved with dragracing as a back up girl in 2011, I quickly realized I wanted to be a driver instead. In 2013 SuzyQ entered my life and has become a great part of it ever since.
Throughout the seasons I also started to learn everything I can about the mechanical aspect of racing on and off the track, besides my driving duties. Grease up to my elbows and black fingernails have become a rather common state of appearance.
My love for Mopar and especially the E-body Barracuda (1970-1974) has always been guiding for my weapon of choice at the track. It’s absolutely true: Mopar or no car!
